Opinions vary across issues, there are Liberals who are against abortion and there are Conservatives who are against war. The idea that there are two monolithic “sides” to choose from is simply not true.
These labels are just a shortcut, too often used to divert serious discussion of issues.
While it might be unrealistic to expect the adoption of a more diverse set of labels that are truly accurate. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to at least know what they are.
